Partners Against PainTarget Audience
A case management approach for consultant pharmacists which will discuss the legal, ethical and symptom issues in dealing with patients towards the end of life.

 

 

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
Describe common barriers to effective pain relief in long-term care facilities.
Identify sentinel events due to unrelieved pain; PRN for persistent pain; acetaminophen and other NSAIDS dose limits and toxicity.
Recognize inappropriate prescribing/administration of meds to due to outdated concerns and ideas.
Describe current drugs, delivery systems and non-drug delivery intervention and methods to maximize effect on pain management in the elderly.
Discuss strategies to change clinical practice for effective pain control in long-term care facilities.
